How to Add Notes to Your Screenshots

Capture the "why" behind every screenshot. Notes keep context attached to images so you always know why you saved something.

Screenshots without context become meaningless over time. "Why did I save this?" is a question you've probably asked yourself. Notes solve this by letting you attach your thoughts, observations, and next steps directly to the screenshot.

Step-by-Step

1

Capture a screenshot with Screenmarks

Press Alt+Shift+S or Alt+Shift+R to capture. The screenshot appears in your library immediately.

2

Open the screenshot detail view

Click any screenshot in your Screenmarks library to open the detail panel.

3

Click the Notes area

The notes section appears in the right panel. Click once to start typing — no double-click required.

4

Type your note

Add any context: why you saved it, what to do with it, which project it belongs to, a key insight. Notes save automatically.

5

Search by note content

Your note text is indexed and searchable. Search any word from any note to find the right screenshot.

Pro Tip

Add notes immediately after capturing — context fades fast. Even a 5-word note like "for the redesign proposal" makes it findable forever.
