Guide
Your screenshots contain text. Here's how to make all of it searchable so you can find any screenshot by what's written in it.
Most screenshot tools save images but don't read them. That means searching for "the tweet about product-market fit" returns nothing — because no tool knows what's inside your images. Screenmarks uses OCR to extract and index all text from every screenshot.
Install Screenmarks
Add Screenmarks to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store. Every screenshot you capture will be automatically processed with OCR.
Capture screenshots normally
Use Alt+Shift+S or Alt+Shift+R to capture. Screenmarks processes each screenshot in the background — extracting all visible text within seconds.
Open your Screenmarks dashboard
Go to screenmarks.com/dashboard to view your library. The search bar at the top searches across all screenshot content.
Type what you remember seeing
Search any word or phrase from any screenshot. Screenmarks searches the extracted text and returns matching screenshots instantly.
Use natural language for vague memories
Can't remember exact words? Try describing it: "tweet about pricing" or "article about remote work". The AI search understands intent, not just exact matches.
Pro Tip
OCR is most effective on screenshots with clear, high-contrast text. Avoid capturing very small text at low zoom — zoom in first for best results.
